About
Natural-born leader. Community builder. People person.
Born and raised in Marshfield, MA, I grew up in a very low-income family with parents who struggled with alcoholism. These challenges forced me to mature quickly and to become a self-starter from a young age. Focusing on changing the family narrative and building a strong foundation for myself, my dedication to academics was evident throughout my school years, where I took on leadership roles as Class President, member of the Student Council, Drum Major of the Marching Band, and was an active participant in various student-led groups.
I became the first in my family to graduate from college, earning two Bachelor's degrees simultaneously from Westfield State University while also serving in the roles of Resident Assistant, Orientation Leader, and full-time Technology Support student employee. Furthering my education, I currently hold a Master's Degree in Information Technology: Enterprise Technology Management from Southern New Hampshire University, and pursuing a dream I once had as a child, is coming true as I work towards a Doctor of Information Technology degree from Capella University. My experiences growing up make me who I am today, taught me the value of community support, and for that, I am committed to giving back. I actively work with local non-profits and volunteer regularly to support and uplift my communities that supported me when I needed them most.
Professionally, I bring a wealth of experience in the IT and education fields, delivering innovative technology solutions that drive educational excellence and operational efficiency. As the Public Safety IT Systems Administrator for the Town of Pepperell, MA, I support and manage all IT-related systems and public safety personnel across five towns, manage physical and virtual server environments, and ensure network security and data integrity. As the regionalized dispatch center, we have a critical role in protecting the wellbeing of our communities served. For that, I have engineered previously non-existent business continuity plans that are ready to go into place to ensure systems uptime and to promote the efficiency of public safety operations.
In addition to my role in public safety IT, I am the owner of Whit(tech)er IT Services, a managed services provider where I offer senior-level IT guidance for small-to-mid-size businesses and non-profits, proactive IT support, resolve technical issues, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure, and implement cybersecurity measures for clients. My commitment to excellence is reflected in a 98% customer satisfaction rate.
Previously, I served as the Director of Technology & Information Systems at TEC Connections Academy, a virtual K-12 district, overseeing technology for over 3,000 students and 200 staff members. As the sole IT department member, I led the development and implementation of a district-wide technology plan, optimized the technology budget, and engineered a redundant network to ensure HIPA, FERPA, and CIPA compliance and security that also supported our student/staff 1-1 technology programs.
I also held the volunteer position of Director of Technology for the Spencer Agricultural Association, where I developed IT projects, implemented business continuity protocols, and managed a high-performance PTMP (point-to-multi-point) network supporting various services.
My career began in education as a Public Educator & Program Coordinator at Marshfield Public Schools, where I was fortunate to be able to put my dual degrees to work teaching both Spanish and Computer Science at the middle and high school levels. Quickly excelling in the roles, I also spearheaded multiple academic programs to promote student success, rebuilding them [programs] from the ground-up. In these roles, I hired and supported educators, developed curriculum, and provided a safe and respectful learning environment for students where they [students] were encouraged to take academic risks to get the most out of their education experience. These experiences ultimately justified the issuance of my Director/Supervisor license by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
With certifications in CompTIA Network+, A+, Security+, and more, I am dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in IT management. Fluent in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language, I excel in communicating with diverse stakeholders and am passionate about staying at the forefront of industry trends. As a proud husband and father to a goof-ball golden retriever and two cats, my life certainly is a busy one, but one that I truly love. I constantly seek to improve environments, relationships, and am always ready to lend a helping hand to make any community more tightly-knit so that everyone involved can experience nothing but the best. I’ve been blessed despite my familiar hardships and want nothing more than for everyone to feel the same.
